Title: Health Equity Research Assistant

Summary:
The Health Equity Research Assistant will play a critical role in supporting ongoing research projects in the Lambert lab focused on mentorship networks and workforce diversity in healthcare. This position will report directly to Marcus Lambert, Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and collaborates with the Brooklyn Health Disparities Center.
Research Projects:
Understanding the Science of Effective Mentorship Networks
This project aims to identify and test patterns of successful mentorship networks to enhance biomedical research outcomes and close mentoring gaps for researchers from underrepresented backgrounds.
Understanding the Dynamics of Workforce Diversity on Health Outcomes
This project investigates the impact of healthcare workforce demographics on patient outcomes at the population level. The goal is to design interventions that improve health outcomes on a large scale.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Participant Coordination (25%): Oversee the recruitment and enrollment processes for study
participants through surveys using Qualtrics and REDCap. Coordinate and send reminders to
participants about intervention-related activities.

Data Collection and Management (10%): Aid in the creation and management of study
databases, and ensure accurate and timely entry of collected data.

Statistical Analysis (25%): Utilize statistical software to analyze research data and interpret the
results.

Qualitative Analysis (10%): Perform qualitative coding and thematic analyses on collected study
data.

Literature Review (10%): Conduct comprehensive literature reviews relevant to ongoing or
upcoming research projects.

IRB Compliance (5%): Assist in preparing materials for submission and renewals to the
Institutional Review Board, ensuring all research activities are compliant with ethical standards.

Grant Applications (5%): Support the preparation of grant proposals and associated
documentation, including just-in-time documents, progress reports, and routing forms.

Publication Assistance (10%): Contribute to the preparation of abstracts, manuscripts, and
other publications.
Other Duties:
Participate in research team meetings and provide support to other projects, as needed.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related field.

Previous research experience, preferably in the field of health equity or social determinants of
health.

Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, R, or SAS.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
